Two New Wars (2006)
For Two New Wars (2006) Kennedy painted the walls of Emerson Gallery (Berlin, Germany) with the stripes of military service medal ribbons from the United States of America (around the top of the arch) and Great Britain (on the inside of the arch). Taking special interest in the medal's advertisement design, Kennedy commissioned a sign painter to paint NEW!, an edition of eight canvases done in two sizes (12"x16" and 6"x8"), which were positioned in the installation to parallel the placement in the promotional material for the ribbons.
